Who We Are
We’re a Native Hawaiian Organization (NHO)-owned 8(a) Small Business, built on the vision of Hawaii’s late Senator Daniel Inouye.
Senator Inouye fought hard for NHOs to be officially added as a recognized group eligible to participate in the SBA’s Entity-owned 8(a) Business Development Program by Congress in 1988.
The sole purpose of NHO-owned 8(a) firms is to create jobs, build local capacity, and reinvest profits into Native Hawaiian communities, in Hawaii—not for individual gain, or to invest profits outside of Hawaii.
Senator Inouye’s vision was clear: empower Native Hawaiians to lead, build, and serve—through federal contracting that delivers both national and local value.
At Akamai Intelligence, we live that mission every day—recruiting, training, and hiring local, Hawaii-based residents who were born and raised here. Most of our employees grew up with the very families we now employ.
